Fiber Processing Class

May 27 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Event Navigation

We will start the day with a shearing demonstration of our Shetland sheep.

After shearing, we will inspect the fleece. This includes identifying and discussing their positive and negative traits. You will also learn how to properly skirt a fleece.

Next, we will wash the fleece and set it out to dry. Participants will then take an already washed fleece and learn how to card it, thus preparing it to be spun!

If you’ve ever dreamed of making a garment from start to finish or you’ve wanted to try spinning raw fleece, this class is for you!  Class fee of $30 includes hands-on instruction, all tools and materials. We hope to see you there!

Note that this class will be held in our outdoor pavilion, which has ceiling fans in case it’s hot out. Dress appropriately for the temperature and plan to get a little dirty.
