The Goat to Garment Tour
Explore the world of fiber farming at Mountain Hollow Farm.
Visit our farm! — Luxurious cashmere goats, fluffy bunny rabbits, goofy llamas, cantankerous sheep, daffy ducks, noisy chickens and comical goat kids (in the spring). Our farm is a fun place to learn about animals.
Meet the animals! Let us show you and your students what fiber farming is all about. Through hands-on demonstrations, we’ll show you how we care for our goats and harvest their cashmere and wool. You’ll learn how the fiber is spun into yarn and gets made into clothing. Come see how it’s done.
Let us customize your tour! We can tailor your tour to meet your classroom needs. See below for the specific topics we can cover.

The Traveling Goat Lady
Small school? Small budget? Our in-class programs might be perfect for you. We can bring part of the farm to your classroom!
In our current global society, we sometimes forget that everything we buy comes from “somewhere.” Almost every item starts as a raw material. Many items of clothing start their “life” on a farm, and that’s where we come in! At Mountain Hollow Farm, we raise goats and rabbits for their fiber, which is spun into yarn. We’ll bring some of the animals to your school and let the students meet them. Through fun hands-on demonstrations, students will see how we care for the animals, collect the fiber, spin it into yarn, and make it into a garment (presentations can be tailored to cover specific topics listed below) – all without having to leave your school!
