You don’t have to be a goat herder to enjoy these warm mitts! Cabling on the back of the hand adds interest to an otherwise utilitarian accessory. The palms are done in stockinette stitch for a smooth grip. Two ribbed stitches in each pattern repeat offer a snug and comfortable fit for a variety of hand sizes.

In this KAL you will learn how to:

  • Knit in the round – one at a time or two at a time
  • Knit cables – with or without a cable needle
  • M1L and M1R increases
  • Knit thumbs
  • Cast on and bind off in the round without “jogs” for a more professional finish

Participants must know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off prior to starting this KAL.

Recommended Supplies

  • 200 yards DK or light worsted yarn. We recommend Malabrigo Rios.
  • Size US 4 and US 5 (3.5 mm and 3.75 mm) double pointed needles or 32” or longer circular needles
  • Brittany cable needles
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers

More Information

These gloves match the Goat Whisperer’s Reversible Cabled Scarf, which will be the KAL at our August 2020 retreat and in the KAL Club starting August 21, 2020. If you would like to do both projects, we recommend that you purchase all of the yarn at the same time to ensure it is all of the same dye lot.

Yarn Requirements:
Gloves – 200 yards
Scarf – 540 yards (more or less, depending how long you want it)
